Facilities and Technology

The Electronic Media Communications Department is located on the first floor of  the Whitney Applied Technology Center, one of the newest building on campus.

Classes are taught in state-of-the-art production facilities.  These include a multi-workstation non-linear digital video editing and production lab, a multi-workstation digital audio production and editing lab and a professional television studio outfitted with equipment from such leading manufacturers as Sony, Grass Valley and Chyron.

Our studio equipment is the same you'll find at area television stations and networks.  For example, you'll learn to operate the same television graphics generator that  local television stations and national networks use for their telecasts. And we operate our audio production facilities and Internet radio station with the same software that's used by all ClearChannel and Galaxy-owned radio stations throughout Central New York.  In addition to our digital labs, we also have linear video editing and radio/audio production studios.

The EMC Department also houses a fully equipped audio and video field production sign-out center where you may reserve equipment for on-location audio and video production. The field equipment includes professional digital video cameras, tripods, portable lighting kits, digital audio recorders and microphones.
