The majority of Respiratory Therapists are employed in acute care hospitals. However, therapists also find employment in physician's offices, clinics, home care, medical sales, research, pulmonary function laboratories and sleep disorder clinics. Respiratory Therapists care for patients of all age groups and provide direct patient care in acute and non-acute settings. Graduates who continue their education to earn baccalaureate or graduate degrees may also find opportunities in healthcare management and administration, public health and education.
