The following Scholarships are available to matriculated students in the Music program:
Established in 2003 by Verizon to recognize distinguished jazz musicians from local high schools invited to participate in Jazz Fest music clinics held on the Onondaga Community College campus. Recipients of this scholarship will be evaluated and selected by a panel of adjudicators during Jazz Fest. To be eligible to receive funding, the recipients of this scholarship must attend Onondaga as full-time matriculated students in the Music program.
Established with funding from the Edith Stoddard Endowment Fund for outstanding full-time music majors. Music department faculty members select winners after a competitive audition in spring. Winner will play at Honors Convocation in April of each year. Awards vary but are typically $500, $300 and $200. Contact your music major professor to apply. Spring award.
Established in 1975 in memory of Barbara Micale, a former Onondaga Community College music professor, for piano majors. Music department faculty selects winners after a competitive audition. Winner is featured at a recital and plays at the College Honors Convocation in April. Contact your music major professor to apply.
Established in 2003 by Donald and Mary Miller for full or part-time students in the Music program. Student must be a talented guitarist accepted as a full- or part-time matriculated guitarist in the Music program. Student financial need can be taken into consideration during the selection process. Having a FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid office is recommended, but not required. Preference will be given to a first year student, however, all guitar students will be considered with the exception of second semester, sophomore students. Student may be required to perform a separate guitar audition. Music program faculty will recruit candidates, and the Guitar chair will select the recipient during the fall semester.
Established in 2001 by Kevin and Selma Moore and available to incoming freshmen enrolled full-time in the Onondaga Community College Music program who can demonstrate financial need. Award is based on audition. For more information, contact Selma or Kevin Moore, Music department, (315) 498-2256.
